Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: August 2026

Where things stand today

Right now, China Lens Guide has no active affiliate partnerships. No link on this site currently earns us money, and no company pays us to be mentioned. When we recommend a VPN, an eSIM, or anywhere else to spend your money, it is because people in our community actually use it.

What may change in the future

The site is reader-supported, and running it costs time and money. In the future, some outbound links — for example to VPN providers, eSIM services, travel insurance, or booking platforms — may become affiliate links. That means if you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission.

Affiliate links never cost you anything extra. You pay the same price as you would going to the provider directly; the commission comes out of the provider's side. When affiliate links go live, we will update this page to say so.

What will never change

  • Recommendations are editorial decisions, made by people who live in China and use these services — never paid placements.
  • A company cannot pay its way into our guides or buy a better position in them, and a potential commission will never decide what we recommend.
  • If a product stops working well for foreigners in China, we will say so and update the guide, affiliate relationship or not.

Sponsored content

We do not currently publish sponsored content. If we ever do, it will be clearly labeled as sponsored — you will never have to guess whether something was paid for.
